1 This report details applications to the Districtwide Facility Hire Remissions Grants Fund for consideration by the Grants Allocation Committee (Districtwide Facility Hire Remissions).

2 The Grants Allocation Committee (Districtwide Facility Hire Remissions) have received the following two applications to consider at this meeting seeking total funding of $2000:
· Kāpiti Basketball Association
· Kāpiti Christian Co-op
3 The Committee have $1,950 remaining in the Districtwide Facility Hire Remissions Grants Fund to disperse in the 2024/25 financial year.
Te tuku haepapa | Delegation
4 The Grants Allocation Committee (Districtwide Facility Hire Remissions) has delegated authority to consider this report under Section C.4 of the Governance Structure and Delegations 2022-25 approved by Council on 24 November 2022:
Districtwide Hall Hire Remissions – This programme is to assist hall users whose event is benefitting the District as a whole rather than an individual community.
Taunakitanga | RECOMMENDATIONS
A. That the Grants Allocation Committee (Districtwide Facility Hire Remissions) grants $.......................... to the Kāpiti Basketball Association, to assist with the cost of hiring the Kāpiti Community Gym in order to provide greater opportunities for youth to participate in sport and in particular basketball.
B. That the Grants Allocation Committee (Districtwide Facility Hire Remissions) grants $.......................... to the Kāpiti Christian Co-op, to assist with the cost of hiring the Reikorangi Hall for their weekly meetings.

5 This budget is targeted at facility users whose event is benefiting the District as a whole rather than an individual community.
6 In the 2024/25 budget the Council had $3,300 for Districtwide Facility Hire Remissions. At its meeting on 26 November 2024, a total of $1,350 was granted. This leaves a balance of $1,950 available for granting.
7 The maximum grant payable under the current policy is $1,000.
8 Criteria for the Districtwide Facility Hire Remissions grant is attached to this report as Appendix 1.

9 Copies of the grant applications received are attached to this report as Appendix 2 (under a separate public excluded cover).
10 The applications are public excluded under clause 7(2)(a), section 48(1)(a)(i) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 due to the personal information contained within.
11 The following events comply with the criteria for Districtwide Facility Hire Remissions Grants being “worthy causes” whose events are providing community, cultural or sporting activities within the District as a whole.
12 Applications have been received from:
Kāpiti Basketball Association
13 Funding of $1,000 is sought to assist with the cost of hiring the Kāpiti Community Gym in order to provide greater opportunities for youth to participate in sport and in particular basketball.
14 This enables the club to keep membership costs as low as possible and thus try to remove cost as a barrier to participation. The applicant has confirmed that participants attend from right across the Kāpiti district.
Kāpiti Christian Co-op
15 Funding of $1,000 is sought to assist with the cost of hiring the Reikorangi Hall for their weekly meetings.
16 This will help to ensure that access to their weekly gatherings is available for families of all financial backgrounds. The applicant has confirmed that participants attend from right across the Kāpiti district.
