Mr Kahu Ropata led the meeting in the Lord’s Prayer in Te Reo Māori and English.

That Council oberves a minute’s silence to acknowledge the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as a mark of respect on behalf of the Kāpiti Coast Community.

A minute’s silence was observed by those present.

 

 

Ms Sarah Wattie (Governance and Legal Services Manager) spoke to the matter of an urgent nature, namely that Ngāti Toa Rangatira had provided their nomination for the Strategy and Operations Committee.

Seconder:  Cr Gwynn Compton

That Council

·         Agrees to appoint Naomi Solomon as Ngāti Toa Rangatira’s representative to the Strategy and Operations Committee with full voting rights effective from 15 September 2022 until the end of the 2019-2022 triennium.

·         Notes that Naomi Solomon will continue to represent Ngāti Toa Rangatira as the Te Whakaminenga o Kāpiti Chair representative and Chair, attending Council meetings, workshops and briefings until the end of the 2019-2022 triennium.

·         Notes that to confirm this decision, Council will provide Naomi Solomon on behalf of Ngāti Toa Rangatira a letter of appointment.

Mr Kahu Ropata gave a mihi to Naomi Solomon and the committee welcomed Ms Solomon with a waiata.
